I built a blog that was getting around 40-50K monthly sessions from Google.
Then everything changed.
This is my blogging journey so far – what worked, what didn’t, and what I’m learning now.
How I Started Blogging
I started blogging back in 2021.
Before buying my first domain, I was using a free Blogspot site. It’s actually a great platform if you want to experiment without spending money.
Eventually, I decided to take things seriously and bought my first domain. The site was on blogger.com still.
Growing to 50K Monthly Traffic
On that first site, I put real effort into finding low difficulty keywords, writing original content and optimizing for SEO
And it worked. I started getting 40-50K monthly sessions, mostly from Google Search. That was the point where I realized blogging could actually work.
When Everything Collapsed
After some time, I stopped working on that site and decided to start a new WordPress blog. I wanted to create better content and grow even more.
Things started well…
But then everything changed.
AI content started flooding the internet, and at the same time, Google rolled out major algorithm updates. Most low-authority sites, including mine lost traffic. My blogger site and WordPress ones all went downhill. Big platforms like Reddit and large corporations began dominating search results. I began wondering maybe blogging is dead but didn’t want to abandon my sites, searching for ways to revive them.
I tried improving my content, following Google’s advice about “helpful content,” but honestly, it didn’t make much difference.
That’s when I realized:
Relying only on Google traffic is risky.
Discovering Pinterest
So I started looking for alternative traffic sources, and that’s when I found Pinterest. Not every niche works on Pinterest since it’s a highly visual platform. Luckily, I had one blog that fit well.
I started creating and posting visually appealing pins consistently.
Pinterest takes time and you need to be consistent (very much) then only you can expect traffic and you can get very good amount of traffic. Here’s my Pinterest analytics –
My Pinterest Results
Pinterest is slow, and consistency matters a lot. After about 7 months, posting around 1-2 pins per day (and even skipping some days), I reached:
- ~500 monthly clicks
- ~400 total pins across boards

It’s not a big result, but it proved something important that Pinterest works if you are serious about building a decent audience
What I’ve Learned So Far
Here are a few key lessons from my journey:
- Don’t rely on just one traffic source
- SEO can be unpredictable
- Pinterest takes time but can drive steady traffic
- Consistency matters more than perfection
Where I Am Now
Currently, I have 4 sites in total, 2 of them are SEO focused.
I’m trying to get traffic on the other two sites. I’m still learning all these content and marketing game. I have made some money, mostly from Google Adsense but its not as high as other bloggers.
What’s Next
I’m going to keep experimenting, learning, and sharing everything I discover about: Blogging, SEO, Pinterest marketing, Content strategy
I think it’ll be helpful for beginners, and I’ll also share my journey and progress on this site although I’m not doing this full time – I’m studying and also looking for a job but I’ll continue my blogging journey as long as I can.
If you’re just starting out, I hope my journey helps you avoid some of the mistakes I made.
And if you want, you can follow me on Pinterest to see what I’m working on there. Bye..
